How to Copy & Paste ACL from Cisco WLC

It turns out that creating ACLs in the WLC GUI is a major pain. Here is how you can copy and paste them from the CLI.

Run following command:
show run-config commands
Copy all commands from “acl create” to “acl apply”
Paste the commands into Notepad
Find and replace to remove “—More—or (q)uit”
Log into the new controller
Type config to enter configuration mode
Paste in the commands
save config

    • Thanks for the tip! I’ve also just learned a new way, which is to run grep so you don’t have to weed through all the commands.

grep include acl “show run-config commands”
